As a society we love to have options. McDonald’s versus Burger King. Kentucky Fried Chicken versus Popeye’s. And so it is when it comes to our entertainment. We love iPods that can hold a kabillion songs, and we love being able to choose from hundreds of channels when it comes to our television viewing. That’s one of the beauties of satellite television. Even one of the most basic plans that start for less than 30 has over 150 channels including the premium Showtime channel free for three months. Did you get that? Over 150 channels! But get this for 62 a month the viewing options are amped up to over 285 choices and channels like starz, HBO, and Cinemax (plus more for a total of over 66 premium channels) are free for three months. You bet with pricing like that a comparison in providers better be closely looked at before any die-hard decision is set in stone, especially when you consider that a mere 32 more per month nets you almost 150 more channels. It would kind of be like going to restaurant that only had a few items on their menu versus one that had multiple pages from appetizers to desserts. That’s how we as a society like our options broad and varied — since we never know when we’re going to want to eat a steak instead of chicken, just as we never know when we’re going to want to watch one out of a hundred shows over one out of a dozen. Yep, that’s us a society that loves our options.
